Man Killed in Solo Crash on the SR-67 in Ramona

RAMONA – A 43-year-old man was killed today when the SUV he was driving crashed off a wet and icy roadway near Mount Woodson Golf Club, authorities reported.

The motorist was headed east on state Route 67 in Ramona about 6 AM when he lost control of his Mitsubishi Montero on a slight curve in the area of Kay Dee Lane, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The vehicle slid off the street and hit a tree, CHP said. The driver and sole occupant of the Montero died at the scene of the accident.

The Spring Valley resident’s name was withheld pending family notification.

Intoxication was not believed to have been a factor in the crash, police said.
