SAN MARCOS – At least one person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday morning involving a semi truck on state Route 78 in San Marcos, police said.
A semi truck was reportedly disabled around 12:15 AM in the left lane of eastbound state Route 78 west of Twin Oaks Valley Road, according to a California Highway Patrol incident log.
Around 12:55 AM, a person told dispatchers that a vehicle crashed into the back of the semi truck and the vehicle was totaled.
It was not immediately clear how many people were inside the vehicle that struck the semi truck.
As of 5:45 AM, the right lane of eastbound SR-78 west of Twin Oaks Valley Road remained closed, the CHP said.
CHP officers were investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash.
