SAN DIEGO – A 28-year-old motorcyclist suffered serious injuries today in a collision on a Miramar-area street.

The man was riding to the south in the 8900 block of Carroll Way on a 2003 Yamaha R1 sport bike when a 2014 Chevrolet van driven by a 63-year-old woman pulled out of a private driveway directly in his path about 9:45 AM, according to San Diego police.

The resulting crash left the motorcyclist with broken wrist and ankle bones, internal injuries, and head trauma, police said. Medics took the man, who was expected to survive, to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. Intoxication was not a factor in the accident, police said.
