Authorities ID pedestrian struck and killed by minivan near I-5 offramp

SAN DIEGO – Authorities Thursday publicly identified a 38-year-old man who was fatally injured when he was struck by a minivan while walking near an Interstate 5 offramp in the Middletown area.

David Henry Hill of San Diego was crossing the street near the offramp when he was struck around 4:55 AM Monday by a Chrysler minivan driven by a 55-year-old man, according to information from San Diego police and the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Hill was taken to a hospital for treatment of multiple blunt force injuries, including major head trauma, the Medical Examiner’s Office reported. He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 5:40 AM.

The minivan driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
